Why you need an attorney in city court.

1. It is my first charge ever, and the judge won’t send me to jail.
Not true. I have seen people go to jail even when it was their first charge.

2. I just have a traffic ticket. I don’t need an attorney.
Do you know which tickets carry the possibility of jail time?
Do you know which tickets carry the possibility of driver license suspension?

3. I don't need an attorney on my Driving While Revoke ticket because I have my license now.
You need to hire an attorney to ensure that the ticket dismissed.
If the ticket is not dismissed and you are found guilty, your license will be suspended
for 6 more months.

4. The officer told me that he was going to drop my charge.
It is not up to the officer to drop the charge. After the officer signs the complaint, it is up to the prosecutor to dismiss your charge. Officers sometimes tell people this to get them to cooperate or to calm them down.
